Tuesday, 05/20/03; Lake Anna, Virginia Day Two
Sightseers,
We are up early to go sightseeing. In the early morning light, we can see clouds of steam rising off the warm water and condensing in the cooler air. It is a wonderful sight and we are a bit envious of the Bakers. Today’s weather is a repeat of yesterday’s – wonderful. We really appreciate it after the past few days.

Left to right: Hi, Connie! Geese and goslings
This time we are all passengers as Jim drives us to Charlottesville to see Jefferson’s home, Monticello. We have a most enjoyable tour of Monticello with an excellent guide.
Monticello
Following this, we have lunch at an outdoor café, The Blue Bird, a favorite of the Bakers. Then Jim drove us through parts of the historic campus of the University of Virginia. Jefferson designed the main building, the Rotunda. On the return to the lake, we stopped at the food market to stock up on necessities for the trip the next day.
Tomorrow, we plan to drive into DC to see some of the famous landmarks and then drive on into Maryland for the night. Jim and Connie wanted us to accompany them to their home nearer to DC, in Fairfax. We decline as we are afraid we have already imposed much too long on their wonderful hospitality. Moreover, we have some days to make up for when we were delayed by bad weather and maintenance problems.
We hope you enjoy the pictures we have taken while visiting the Bakers in Virginia.
The Undaunted Four
