The Overdrive is in the mail!

This morning we could sleep in a bit. The only things on the schedule were phone calls Dennis had to make to Snyder’s to assure they were shipping the overdrive and one to Mitchell to tell them to send a bracket for the 1939 transmission. (This transmission requires a special bracket for the shift lever.) We packed up in leisure to move to our new motel near the transmission shop. We were told we couldn’t get into our rooms until after 1100.

At the transmission shop, Dennis was told that the “U-Joint” was worn and not serviceable. He called Mitchell. They had one and will ship with the bracket. It is scheduled to arrive by FedEx by 1030, the same time as the overdrive.

Exposed; Overdrive lets it all hang out...

Joan, Joann and Keith went to Wal-Mart and had a “hair-do” while Dennis shopped for groceries.  Then we drove to the town of Keystone, near Mt. Rushmore, where we had lunch and visited the Borglum/Rushmore Story, a museum dedicated to the sculptor of the Mt. Rushmore Memorial.

Keith took his computer to the shop to find out the problem with his mouse. Turned out the mouse “died,” so he got as new one. This makes the computer operation much easier. Once he got the computer operating, he hooked up on the Internet and sent Pat Burbank a large backlog of reports and a few pictures.

As we write this (1730), we are experiencing an afternoon thundershower. This is common for this part of the country this time of the year. We had one yesterday and expect them from now on. We will probably be off the road before they hit, so they shouldn’t bother us too much as we travel westward.

Tomorrow, Dennis will supervise the installation of the overdrive and fit the floorboard to accept the new gearshift lever. Keith plans a few re-wiring chores on Clara and the gals plan to do the laundry. We hope that all goes well with the overdrive and that we can depart early Thursday morning. Stay tuned to see what happens!
